It’s been a busy week. For the first three days I was completely engulfed by a computer course. I need to learn how to use MYOB (a book-keeping programme) so that I can be of a little more use to Peter in his new business than just a coffee maker/receptionist/kisser in the kitchen. It was all very interesting. I had to keep reminding myself that book-keeping is not Quantum Mechanics. Unfortunately, the course assumed large amounts of prior knowledge - they were there to teach me the PROGRAMME, not BOOK-KEEPING - so I had to keep my wits about me and pay attention. It’s been a while since I did anything that demanded that level of concentration! But it was fine and, while I’m pretty sure I failed the exam (!!), I do have a fair idea of what the programme is about.
On Friday I collected the new car. It was rather hilarious. I dropped Peter at the airport at 5:00 a.m. (in my clapped out trade-in) and, as I was driving home, I turned on the fan to demist the windscreen. Roh-Ro, Rooby-Roo!! Instantly a new grinding noise started. I limped it home, took Ali to school a few hours later and let it have Nanna-rests for the whole day. After school we drove to the car dealership, willing the sad little car to last the distance. How embarrassing would it have been for the engine to seize on the way to trading it in??? The new car is lovely! It starts first time, doesn’t clunk or grind and smells of leather. Oooooh!!!
As so often seems to happen, the leafy quilt has fallen by the wayside. I have been distracted by flowers and ribbon and lace and other fripperies. This afternoon has been productive, though. I made a new bag (cos you know I don’t have enough of those!)…

SO, all in all, a good week. New stuff and an aching brain.
ps: I should sign off with the new name my brother has given me:
Dual Citrus Foliage.

I had to learn MYOB and book-keeping on the job - luckily I had a very good, clear teacher - and I think it is a fantastic program. When I have better technology than this old dinosaur I wouldn’t mind getting MYOB for my tap business. You’ll be right, mate.
The bag is PRETTY!

Taught myself MYOB out of the “for dummies” book but have no occasion to use it since the move. Ah well.
The toile is cute and the bag is fabbo!
And I have New Car Envy. Seriously. Although I want a Focus, not a territory, since I don’t have the sort of driving tasks you have!

Hi Kirsten, my accountant advised me to buy a book-keeping programme for the tax filling. He made me believe, once everything is put in the computer, I only have to push one button and magically all I want to know is being spit out. I spent a lot of time last week trying to upgrade my brain and to keep it cool.
Why can I count stitches, understand the most crazy knitting patterns, work with all kinds of computer programs and why don’t I understand these issues? Could it be the dull-factor?
Did you already stroll with your lovely frivolous bag?

Beautiful bag. I am a fan of french country so, of course, I love the toile.
I do book-keeping as part of my job, and after months of begging for help (my degree is in education, not accounting), finally just sat down with the book and the program and figured it out for myself! What a headache! Good luck with it.

Beautiful bag… cracker car… and from the keeper of the (MYOB) books for the “Dual Citrus Foliage” sibling… all I can say is “Good Luck!” with MYOB - you’ll sure need it! Don’t even get me started about its failings…

he he, glad your old car made it to trade-in before it died. When I traded in my decrepit old Mini many moons ago I pulled up the floor mats in the back to give it a spring-clean, and was appalled to find a big freaking HOLE - could see right through to the road! Hastily covered THAT up, but hey, what do you expect for a $500 trade-in right? Just goes to show how often I cleaned my car interior.
Hey, love that black and white fabric on your bag (toile?)

Oh my you have been busy!!!! I am a quick hours repose as we anticipate the arrival of the granddaughter, so I had to come see if you had a new post. Well, learning MYOB is not an easy task, I understand the brain strain! Then a new car! Yay for you! What colour did you choose? well, it’s used so I guess was chosen for you would be a better thought. And the bag! Oh the bag! gorgeous!

I’ve worked with a similar bookkeeping package (Quickbooks) for the past few years despite not having a numerical bone in my body, and I know exactly what you mean about an aching brain! My head hurts just trying to work out whether something should be a debit or a credit!
Gorgeous bag…I *love* the black and white fabric.

Hi!
I found your blog via a fellow quilter. Just wanted to let you know of a mini-quilt swap I am hosting. We’d love to have you if you are interested. The details are given at the blog link below. If it happens that you are not interested, I’d still appreciate if you could spread the word in the event some of your blog’s readers might like to participate. Thanks!
